The good man was in the balconey!

September 24, 2007

Tonight I was very close to being reduced to tears. I was at a service to commemorate the anniversary of an organisation of which I hold dear to my heart. As they sang praises form the pulpit, about members past + present of the organisational hierarchy. The man who should have been leading from the front was sitting upstairs in the balcony. His presence was barely noticed, he arrived just in the nick of time, sat dressed discretely in a seat that no one would pay much attention too. He left before anyone would have seen him go.

The man was forced out due to jealousy and pride. The mans presence I noticed and he was the reason I no time for religousness and i realise the importance of turning the other cheek. the man knows what christianity is about. God Bless him!

Policy vs Practice

September 20, 2007

There comes a point when an organisation becomes becomes big enough and enough people have their own ideas of how things should be done that standardisation is required.

This is why policy is initially written to standardise working practice. However some may compare this to a composer writing music, its not. The practice was there in some shape or form initially. Then comes the policy review and re-review and re-re-review etc.

Some people just then begin to review policy and once they change one another needs rewritten, until all they do is rewrite policy. It eventually gets to the stage where the walls are covered in memo’s, like as if that was the intended paper. The inbox is full of amendments and shelves of files appear.

Policy has a time and a place and it should be noted that practice takes prescedent.

Opening sentiments!

September 19, 2007

To write on the opening pages of a blank book requires some serious thought. It infers to the reader a sense of what it is that will inspire them from the pages behind it.

The intention of this chapter is to just merely record some thoughts, fears, comical moments and to also get to the back page of a journal,

No really it is to help the author and hopefully whoever decides to read it.
