Live!

June 17, 2008

Music has always been quite a big part of my free space. I enjoy few things more than just lying in a dazed state with tunes dancing around my head. Having yet to master any instrument I often marvel at the skill involved in creating a song/ piece of music. In the digital age where even music is airbrushed, as time goes by my love of the live performance seems to grow.

Through my short existence I have managed to see some fantastic artists live. Starting with Ash and U2 at Botanic Gardens, the Ulster Orchestra at the Movies, Radiohead in a tent in Paris and David (Matthews) at the Academy in Manchester. The magic of a live gig for me is in a different league from the airbrushed albums. It gives you a true sense of how talented each performer is, as he has less of a smokescreen to hide behind.

This evening I have enjoyed listening to Coldplay, at the Brixton Academy courtesy of Radio 1and as I sit in a dazed state I can just imagine that this was a good gig. Who says radio is dead!!

And sometimes it also appears the staged performance has a place!
